The benchmark
A price the whole market can agree on.
When a buyer and a seller both reference the same independent index, the argument stops being about whose number is right. The Vesper Price Index gives dairy, vegetable oils, and sugar markets that shared reference, built only from real transactions.

Credibility
An official Euronext licensed partner.
Vesper distributes spot prices for dairy and vegetable oils under licence from Euronext, one of Europe's main exchanges. That partnership, plus a public methodology and traceable sources, is why teams trust the index enough to settle contracts against it.

Common questions
Commodity price index FAQ
What is a commodity price index?
A commodity price index is a single representative price for a market, built from many individual transactions. Instead of one quote from one seller, it reflects where the whole market is trading. That makes it a fair reference point for contracts and benchmarking.
What is the Vesper Price Index (VPI)?
The VPI is Vesper's independent, transaction-based benchmark for dairy, vegetable oils, and sugar. It is built from real deals across the market, validated, and published weekly with full history. It is the number many procurement and finance teams write directly into supply contracts.
How is the VPI calculated?
We collect real transactions from buyers, sellers, and brokers, validate and clean them against other sources, then weight and aggregate them into one representative price for the period. The full method is documented publicly on the VPI methodology page.
Which markets have a Vesper Price Index?
Dairy, vegetable oils, and sugar currently have a published VPI. These are the markets where transaction coverage is deep enough to produce a robust independent benchmark. Other markets are served by Vesper's wider set of price series.
Is the index independent?
Yes. The VPI is built only from market transactions, not from Vesper's own opinion of price. Vesper is also an official Euronext licensed partner for spot price distribution in dairy and vegetable oils, which adds a further layer of scrutiny.
How is the index different from individual commodity prices?
Individual prices tell you what one product costs in one place at one time. The index is a single benchmark built from many of those prices. Most teams use both: the index as a contract reference, individual prices to check a specific quote. See the commodity prices page for individual series.
