Year-on-year sales data from Kantar show that inflation-driven sales increases have masked a decline in the volumes of dairy products sold in the year to September, AHDB say. Liquid milk, yellow fats and cheese all suffered fallsโ€”seemingly in direct relation to their relative price increases. For liquids, the average price per litre increased by 8% to ยฃ0.68, with volume down 7.2%, and semi-skimmed milk falling the most. Yellow fats were down 9.6%, also under pressure from a raft of new plant-based alternatives, and cheese fell by just 5.8% despite growth in snack and lunchbox products.
