Despite December milk supply down 1%, the first year-on-year decline since quotas were lifted, Ireland exceeded 2020 milk production by 5.5% last year. Total production amounted to 8,754m litres—about 18% above Ireland’s target to increase milk production by 50% to around 7.4bn litres in the decade to 2020. January production stuck to the December trend, down 4.1% to 174m litres, according to CSO estimates.
