China's 2024 Dairy Industry

dairy webinar

In February 2022, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) implemented a five-year plan for the domestic dairy sector, outlining key actions, including promoting large-scale modern dairy farms, that thevgovernment would support.

China’s ambition to expand its milk industry is rooted in the pursuit of food self-sufficiency.

Despite China’s efforts, year-on-year milk production growth is currently experiencing a stagnation phase. In 2023, the year-to-date year-on-year increase stood at 3.22%, with production reaching 33,640,000 metric tons as of November.

Several factors contribute to this slowdown, including lower milk prices, global inflation, higher unemployment rates, and a 0.2% decrease in the Chinese population in 2023.

Watch this webinar on-demand to explore the future of China’s dairy market. We will uncover the economic factors influencing it and discuss China’s role in the global dairy industry.
